Dynamite 17
4/5
I am a hybrid stinger with co-poly in the mains on an 18/20 string pattern. Bought this string looking for a close approximation to the way synthetic gut feels in the last five or so hours right before the string breaks. Overall the dynamite comes close. The string has a soft feel. Its very easy on the arm and really gives that deep ball pocket feel. Its ready to play from the first hit and really needs no stretch time. Some downsides of course are the life of the string. Usually for me about 6-9 hours of play and they break. Maybe even less for power hitters with a 16/18 pattern. The string also has a way of fraying and unraveling a bit rather than a clean break. Dont think this affects the ball but it can take your attention away if youre one of those people who pick at things o.c.d.. I wouldnt recommend this string unless youre a home stringer. I will stick with synthetic gut crosses for practice but overall I think its a good pick for what I was looking for. i.e. an im

The Softest

I tried out Ashaway Dynamite 17 Natural seeking for the softest string I could find. I string my own racquets at 57 pounds. After trying several other brands, this is the softest, softer than any Prince produces. It gives that touch feel of a long lasting impact yet with no impact on the arm and wrist ala the touchlike you could get with an old woodie. For me, a 4.0 player, this is the kind of touch feeling I am seeking. Life span is shorter. At the pace of playing three times a week 2 hours per play, using two identical Yonex racquets, I re-string both every 4-6 weeks. For me, the great feeling of a better touch is worth the shorter life span. The strings do fray. I like that since it gives a better indicator of how much more time I can go before re-stringing. I would recommend this string for anyone seeking a softer string giving an excellent touch feeling. There is no loss of power just because it is a soft string.
