The Babolat RPM Blast 17 offers greater spin generation at the expense of some durability compared to the thicker 16 gauge version. This string shares the same basic construction and co-polyester composition as the popular Babolat Pro Hurricane Tour, with a few minor tweaks. The RPM Blast stays with the octagonal profile but enhances the spin generation through the use of a new dye and coating. The black color of this string makes it play slightly stiffer than the yellow Pro Hurricane Tour, while the new silicone coating is designed to allow the strings to slide across each other easier. This serves two purposes, the first is that the string can move easily, effectively allowing the stringbed to play as a more open pattern than it is. The second, of course, is to enhance durability by lessening string to string friction. Babolat's RPM Blast is a popular choice among strong baseliners seeking durability and spin to dictate the action.

rpm blast string

Tried the RPM Blast string and wound up cutting it out before two long because it lost tension so quickly. We like the huricane feel string much better. Probably would not use the RPM blast again. As it seems with all of the Babolat string, you buy 40 but they only send you 39 of string, making it ever more difficult to string with using a drop weight stringer.

A Game-changer for me

I had used syn. gut for several years but was breaking them after 2 matches. I hesitated to move to the Poly strings for fear of arm injury. But the RPM blast is a soft poly that has not hurt my arm or shoulder. I have tried it as a hybrid on the mains with syn. gut on the cross. But this did not work as well for me as using RPM blast all across the string bed. I play at 4.5 level and have a full, hard swing. RPM blast pockets the ball well and produces great torque and spin on each shot. I use the 17g at a tension of 58 and have not be able to break these strings. They will loosen up and I find I have to restring after about 5 good matches. But overall a game-changer for me ... I can hit the ball harder with more precision than ever.

Noticeable Difference

Good spin and control

The strings play with a lot of control. Im able to put a lot of spin on the ball. At a tension of 57, there isnt much power, but that is exactly how I wanted it.

Amazing String...hard on the elbow

Im a 4.5 player that plays about 10 hours a week. This is a great string - its very easy to get a ton of topspin and power. The control is also amazing. Its also very durable. Hitting with this string definitely give you more control and power, but its very hard on the arm. I recommend stringing this in the mains with a nice soft string like Duralast in the crosses - and also lower the tension by about 2 lbs lighter than you would string other polys. Also - when the string dies it dies, its probably better to cut it off than waiting for it to break...

Best Strings by far

These strings are the best for comfort, feel and power by far. I used the Kirschbaun & Luxilon strings before the RPM Blast and alway had some serious tennis elbow pains. With the RPM Blast, the pains are gone, the feel is second to none and there is absolutely no compromise in power generated. Lest I forget, the topspin generated from using the string is awesome and helps keep my balls in the court. Kudos to Babolat!!!

RPM Blast is a blast

I have been using these for some time now and will not switch. The spin generated is worth the slight sacrifice in feel and they just last forever! Ive only broken 1 set in 2 years on 4 racquets. I do replace them as needed, as they eventually do loosen some and I prefer a tight string at 63 pounds. Love em!

I thought I would get a little bit more feel out of the string. It did not seem to me that I got as much spin as I was expecting though it does give a little more than the other ones I have used. I think stringing it on the lower side of your tension range is better.

Strung Along

Decent string

I strung it at 58 lbs. It has pretty good pops when serving. Good spin on groundstokes. Volley also feels good. It also retains tension quite well. The price is a bit steep, but you do get your money's worth.

HAVE A BLAST......

I tried the RPM BLAST 17G based on my pro's suggestion. It took about 20 minutes to get used to the "stiff" feel at first. But once igot used to these powerful strings, I was hitting crisp cross court topspins, and accurate drop shots in no time. Very pleased... NTRP 4.

Certainly the best string I have used since I strung with Gamma Aramid 18g mains and Babolat Natural gut crosses...but it holds its tension better and doesn't break...great control and topspin...soon I will buy more for my other two racquets.

Babolat RPM Blast Black 17g string

I had used Babolat PHT. At first this string felt tight and strange to me. I had it strung at 55#. It felt tighter than that, but, after about 15-20 minutes I got the feel for it and it felt like it had loosed up as well. At that point, my standard topspin forehands and backhands fell about 2-3 feet shorter than normal due to increased topspin. Kick serve has more bite, too. Less feel then PHT in my opinion though. So far I think it performs well, but takes some getting used to.

Rpm Blast 16GA

Nice poly string. Powerful and nice topspin. Keep tension low. Strung mine at 57lbs. Serves well - opponent had trouble with receiving serve and ground strokes. I think I will like the 17 ga better because it's thinner. Babalot has a nice product. NTRP 4.0
