Though it may seem a household name now, Under Armour was only recently founded in 1996 by Kevin Plank, a college football player at the University of Maryland. Tired of emerging from games covered in sweat, Plank sought to make a shirt that kept him cool and dry in the midst of the most strenuous athletic competition. Thus Under Armour was born, and what was born as a football shirt soon became a sportswear outfitter that not only makes clothes for every sport, but makes clothes for every kind of weather and every kind of athlete. Currently sponsoring tennis superstar Andy Murray and newcomer Sloane Stephens, Under Armour is slowly but surely becoming a behemoth in the sporting goods market.

Though many brands emulate the Under Armour technology, the original HeatGear was and remains the first and best in warm-weather performance. Under Armour has since grown to offer gear for cold weather, temperate weather, and ultimate moisture management.
