Novak Djokovic was born in Belgrade, Serbia to Srdjan and Dijana Djokovic, who own a pizzeria and pancake restaurant on a mountain in Serbia.. He has two younger brothers that also hope to be professional tennis players. His father, uncle and aunt were all professional skiers and his father was also an excellent soccer player. His father wanted him to be a soccer player or skier but he excelled in tennis at an early age. Novak Djokovic began playing tennis at the age of four and made his pro debut at age 16. He is nicknamed Nole. He credits his family as the inspiration for giving him so much support and says he wouldn’t be able to be where he is without their help. He has been asked who his favorite tennis player was growing up and he answers "Pete Sampras and Andre Agassi." Showing that he admires both types of the game being that Sampras' style was a more serve-and-volley while Agassi was a strong baseliner.
