Coached by her father, Sabine Lisicki was introduced to tennis at the age of seven. At Wimbledon in 2011 she was the first German in 12 years to reach a Grand Slam semi-final. She began her career in 2004 on the ITF Circuit and broke into the top 100 by 2008. Lisicki won her first WTA title in 2009, defeating Caroline Wozniacki at Charleston. She reached her career-high in August of 2009 at number 22 but sustained an ankle injury in 2010.
