Dunlop Aerogel 4D 200 18x20 Racquet Review

Awesome performance from the baseline is the first thing that stands out. This frame will provide a very stable feel with excellent control when hitting off the ground on both sides. I found a very solid response and excellent control across the board hitting topspin, slice, and flat shots. It is for sure a control oriented frame as you have to generate the pace but the control allows you to swing out with confidence and comfort.

With its head light set up this makes for a very maneuverable racquet at net. I had the ability to hit solid put away volleys, when at the same time I was able to react on reflex volleys with ease. At 11.9 oz it is a tad heavy but the 7pts head light does aid in allowing quick reactions.

The one low point of the test was serving, control and placement are excellent. Hitting a solid serve also not an issue as the weight is for sure noted. But a definite lack of pace and spin were noticeable for me. I had to really work to generate power and try to put away 1st serves and add spin to kick and slice serves. Again control not an issue at all, but the tight string pattern is a negative here.

The overall solid feel of the frame coming from its weight and tight string pattern allowed me to generate my own pace on the ball with superb control on the ground from both sides. At the net the solid feel continued and the 7pts headlight balance helped with maneuverability. The tight 18x20 string pattern also allows for excellent placement and control for all types of volleys. Control and placement on serve was excellent, but pace and power for sure lacking. I would recommend this racquet for players at a 4.0 rating or higher, or if you have long fast groundstrokes.
