Dunlop Biomimetic 600 Racquet Review

Inspired by nature perfected by Dunlop. That’s Dunlop’s new phrase. Dunlop’s new racquets are made with Biomimetic technology. Biomimetic is a combination of three new technologies Gecko-Tac grip, Aeroskin, and HM6 Carbon. Mimicking the foot of the gecko, Gecko-Tac grips are smooth, perforated, and tacky. It wicks away moisture, and it provides up to 50% more grip and tack than previous Dunlop grips. Next up is Aeroskin, which is acquired from the infamous shark. Like how a shark can bolt through water with ease, so can the new Dunlop racquets. The Aeroskin reduces drag up to 25% to increase racquet speed and power. Lastly, HM6 Carbon, shaped like honeycombs, this construction absorbs and distribute unwanted racquet frequencies evenly through the frame giving better feel and minimal energy loss.

The Biomimetic 600 is a sweet looking racquet with the black and white paintjob. With a 102in head size and the roughly 10.5oz strung weight this racquet is the perfect tweener. From its predecessor, the racquet has dropped 3in in the head, is .5 oz heavier and that extra .25in in length has been taken off. Also instead of being 1pt HH it’s now 4pt HL making for a killer combo.

At first glance, I thought I’d never be able to hit with this racquet as I usually play with the Youtek Prestige Pro. Playing with this racquet, I did have to shorten my swing, but it still provided me with plenty of control. When I wanted, I could easily lengthen my swing back to normal and put a lot of spin on the ball. I had no problem hitting consistent deep groundstrokes on both the forehand and backhand. The response was amazing on slice shots. Overall this racquet offered a smooth, responsive feel in all aspects of baseline play.

Volleys on this racquet were deadly. I was able to Punch balls back at my opponent relentlessly. It was a little harder to adjust to because the racquet was so light but when I got in sync with the racquet it was hard to mess things up. The racquet offered fantastic depth when I was going for winners, however, I did lose a little bit of feel going for short and drop volleys. Overall the volleys had great bite but the feel was lacking just a little bit.

At first this racquet gave me a little too much power on my flat serve but after a few adjustments I was able to place the ball well with excellent pop. With the power increase came the spin increase. Kick serves and slice serves were definitely awesome with this racquet. I felt like I was never going to miss my second serve. I was able to use this spin to make up for the lack of control.

The New Dunlop Biomimetic 600 looks awesome and plays amazing. I would recommend this racquet for someone who has a medium-swing style and likes a racquet that can do some of the work for him or her. This racquet offers versatility and is a nice addition of someone’s arsenal who wants a racquet that meets both power and control. I recommend that all players of a 3.5 NRTP rating or higher try this racquet out as they will be pleasantly surprised at its outstanding performance.

Also, players should check out some of the new Biomimetic bags that would go great with this racquet! Dunlop has released a few in all sizes including 3 packs, 6 packs, and 10 packs to match your needs.  Check out their neat backpacks and gym bags!
