Dunlop Aerogel 4D Technology

4D stands for 4 directional braiding, using four superlight composite fibers wrapped in an alloy sheath. The fibers are aligned at 0, 90, 22 and -22 degree orientations which enables stresses to be supported in multiple directions (standard carbon sheets are only orientated in one direction). One layer of 4D Braided carbon has the equivalent strength of four layers of standard carbon, without increasing the overall weight of the racquet. 4D Braided material has been incorporated to the racket lay-up at the following key locations:

• At the 5 and 7 o'clock positions on the racquet head, the multi-directional properties of the 4D braided cloth help reduce torque, making the racket more stable and enhancing control.

• At 3 and 9 o’clock, the 4D braided cloth provides torsional stability and, since only one layer is used, racquet feel and response are enhanced.
