Head Youtek IG Speed MP (16x19) Racquet Review

buy this racquet demo this racquet

The Head Youtek IG Speed MP (16x19) is fully equipped with Head’s latest IG technology, which includes a few updated features: the Teflon grommets and d3o technology. These features complement the design and playability of the racquet by giving it a more vibrant feel compared to other frames on the market. The design of the d3o technology provided a player with optimum power and a great sense of touch, while the Teflon grommets give the racquet a more solid and stiffer feel for control.

Groundstrokes

This racquet felt very solid and sturdy. I was able to get well-placed shots and deep groundstrokes from the baseline. I was also able to keep my swing speed fast and aggressive while maintaining precision and control. The 11.1oz weight of the racquet and the headlight feature gave me enough control and produced quality plow-through. In addition, the open 16x19 string pattern complemented the feel of the racquet. With more bite onto the tennis ball, I was able to get lots of topspin and slice at will.

Volleys

Having a headlight racquet made it a lot easier to be maneuverable at the net. With a somewhat light static weight, I was able to switch from my forehand to backhand volleys very quickly. The 100 sq in head size allowed for a larger and more responsive sweet spot which allowed me to optimize my swing technique. This allowed me to master fairly easy volleys and get a crisp feel when putting-away balls at the net.

Serves

Serving with this racquet felt very solid and concrete. I was able to get ample power when hitting my flat serves as well as extra spin for both kick or slice serves. It was very easy to vary my serving angle in order to set up easy shots with this racquet either down the line or directly to a corner to throw off opponents.

Overall

Overall, the Head Youtek IG Speed MP (16x19) is a great racquet for a player who has an aggressive style of play and favors longer strokes. Even though this racquet is made more for the mastering control, the racquet still had sufficient power and pop to plow through heavy returns with force. If you are a player that is bit more aggressive than others and want a racquet that provides control and plow-through, this racquet will fit your play style perfectly. I would recommend this racquet for a NTRP of a 4.0 or higher.
