The Youtek Prestige MP was just one of the three new Prestige racquets released at the beginning of 2010. With the new release of the line, the Prestige MP keeps the same specs as it has over the years, but there’s a twist. Youtek is d3o molecules that have been embedded within the racquets. These molecules are there to give optimum stability and feel and at the same time shock dampening. The molecules adjust to your swing. Serves and groundstrokes will result in the molecules tightening up stiffening the racquet a bit to give you more pop. Volleys and drop shots soften the racquet giving you better feel. Enough about how the technology, let’s see how it actually plays.

 

 

 

 

 

Groundstrokes
Being a strong baseliner, the Youtek Prestige MP played wonderfully. Given that 98 in head size, the racquet was more forgiving than its counterpart, and gave really nice control. I found the weight easy to adjust to and the 18x20 gave nice precision. From playing with my usual Prestige Pro (16x19), playing with the Youtek Prestige MP was similar, but overall the Prestige MP gave a more solid feed. The Youtek Prestige MP allowed me to flatten out and get more pace on my shots. This racquet is a dream for aggressive baseliners.

 

Volley
I’m not much of a net person but when I did go up to net, I got great feel. The weight wasn’t a problem bringing the racquet back and forth. With the handle heavy balance, it was easy for me to stay consistent and punch the ball with ease. Comparing the MP to the Pro, the MP was more precise as to where the Pro can get a little crazy at times. Overall the racquet was great at net.

 

Serves
I need all the help I can get on my service game. The Prestige MP allowed me to whip the racquet over my head and plow through the ball at will. The d3o technology works great. I was able to put more pace on the ball with precision, which I can’t do at times with the Prestige Pro. Normally I put a lot of spin on my serves but with such a dense string bed I couldn’t get as much. The glory of this racquet is that I could really flatten the ball out and place the ball perfectly.

Overall this racquet was a triple threat. I could easily flatten out the ball or put some heavy spin on my forehand. I could punch the ball and angle the ball with ease on my volleys and the touch the racquet had on drop shots were magical. Lastly I could pound the ball on my serves with confidence because the racquet had so much control. Remember this is a control-based racquet and it is not meant for the faint of heart but if you’re ready to take on this bad boy make sure you fasten your seat belts, its going to be an amazing ride. I would recommend this racquet for anyone who had a long, fast swing and wants amazing control. I would recommend that any 4.0+ level players demo this racquet.
