One-year warranty...sort of
User: Bruce Wood, OR
I have been playing New Balance tennis shoes, Model 806 and 1005 for several years. Neither of the models have held up to the one-year sole-wear warranty. The 806 model lasted 6 months before wear was excessive affecting foot comfort. I am replacing the 1005 model after 3 months of wear. I am very satisfied with the playability/comfort of the shoe but the warranty is not honored after the first pair replaced...New Balance warranty statement. So, dont buy it with the one-year guarantee as a major reason for purchase...unless you want to get two pairs for the price of one plus return shipping cost. I play doubles 3-5 times/week depending on USTA season.

Had to return these shoes because of instability.
User: Bruce Wood, or
Bought these hoping for added comfort over 806 model due to lighter weight. Am surprised that 1005 does not fit as well and tends to feel hot on sole of feet. I like the lighter weight but will return to the 806.
New Balance 1005 tennis shoes.

Ive been using this model New Balance for some time and find it is the only shoe that fits my wide feet and are lightweight. Ive tried less expensive New Balance models, but they do not have the same fit and are not as comfortable. I wish they were more durable, however. Playing 3-4 time a week, they only last 2 months, and I can never find them on sale!

I like the sneakers from New Balance I usually can just put them on and start playing tennis, however this particular pair I had to break in inside my home before wearing them on the court.. I just started wearing them on the court and they are performing to the expected level
Best tennis shoes
User: Jack Johnston, AZ
I had been buying the NB 804s for years, and was reasonably happy with them. This time I went for the 1005s, and find the fit and comfort even better. Dont know if they will stand up for a year as advertised but will put them to the test.
Mens 1005 Tennis Shoe

The process to purchase the shoes and the shoes themselves are great! Thanks

This is the second pair of 1005s I have bought. I am pleased with the comfort of these shoes. I have a high arch and wide feet. The EEEE width allows me to play in comfort. The 1005 support and comfort allow me to play several times a week. The only negative would be the time before the shoe begins to lose support. I would like a shoe to last longer. I think this is a tradeoff for the comfort.
Shoes for Tennis

How about some bright colors. Where did the 6EE go. I do need a wide shoe with stylish colors. When soles are 1/2 gone they have to be replaced, not enough support.
User: Geneson Coloma, HI
I have very wide feet and New Balance is only company that Ive found that fit me without having to order oversized lengths. I opted for this model because of the mesh uppers rather than purchasing the 804. Im very satisfied with shoe after replacing the inserts with an aftermarket cushioning insert.

I BOUGHT THIS SHOE FOR MY HUSBAND WHO NEEDS A WIDE SHOE. THE SHOE IS TRUE TO SIZE HOWEVER, DUE TO MY HUSBANDS HIGH INSTEP THE SHOE KEPT SLIPPING OFF AND WE RETURNED THEM. OVERALL, IT IS A NICE LOOKING SHOE, WELL MADE AND GREAT IF YOU NEED A WIDE WIDTH.
NB 1005 Tennis Shoes
User: Kim Connally, TX
I purchased the New Balance 1005 tennis shoes several months ago and have been very pleased with their performance. I have worn New Balance tennis shoes less expensive models for at least 15 years, but the 1005 model has 2 important advantages over the less expensive ones. The 1005s are lighter and breathe better than most of the other models. The extensive use of mesh not only makes the shoe very comfortable, but also so cooler when playing in a hot climate. These shoes are worth the price and I wouldnt hesitate to get another pair when my current ones wear out.

Tennnis shoes fit fine. They have helped my plantar faciitis problem. I also appreciated being able to change the width after the initial order. That was what was needed to have them fit correctly. Service was excellent and very professional over the phone and via E-mail. I am very satisfied and will definitely buy through Tennis Express when I need new or replacement shoes. Most companies inundate you with ads after purchasing. Your company did not do that which I was grateful for.
Shoes to defeat stress fractures
User: Ken Hanks, NM
After a stress fracture in my foot I started using NB 4EE/6EE shoes. Also added orthodics and for the last 4 years I have been pain free, stress fracture free, and free to move anywhere on the tennis court. So my feet are FREE. Thanks for a great prodkuct. Keep swinging, Ken Hanks
An Unworthy Successor to the 1004
User: Ed Hooven, Texas
I have worn the 1004 for years and usually ordered 2 pairs at a time for both tennis and walking around. I assumed the 1005 would be an improvement; it is not! In an obvious cost but not price cutting measure New Balance has eliminated the N-lock inner arch support which the laces also went though that held the shoes firmly in place. Now the shoe moves around more and the less attractive front upper does not remain firmly against the top of the wearers foot. Im glad I only bought one pair which I will not use for tennis maybe for car washing!. Too much money; too little shoe!
1005 4E Tennis Shoe
User: Juan Carlos Araque, CA
I have been wearing these shoes for about 6 months. They are very comfortable and reliable. The first few months, the shoes provide the proper flexibility and strengh. However, after a few months, or depending how ofter you wear them, it begins to lose its inside structure. On the other hand, the outside does last for over 6 months. Overall it is a very good tennis shoe.
Great Tennis Shoe
User: Gary L Freeman, Texas
Having a wide foot makes it difficult to find tennis shoes that feel good on my feet. The first thing I noticed about these shoes was my feet were not cramped. These are wide shoes indeed. The second thing that caught my attention was how light they were while I was wearing them. The shoe gives plenty of firm support for someone who has high arches and is more than a few pounds overweight. Tennis Express shipped very fast.
