HEAD Metallix tennis racquets uses a new, specially designed matrix of carbon and metal in the racquet frame, which HEAD calls Metallix. The metal is a crystalline metal alloy with a grain size that is 1000 times smaller than that of a typical metal, making it much stronger without increasing its weight. This is supported by the Hall-Petch relation, which states that the strength of the material increases as the grain size decreases. The result is a light, but extremely strong material.
