Cooperating with Fraunhofer Institute, the Volkl Organix 8 315 builds on the success of its sister frame with the same organic material composite. Designed with the aggressive baseline player in mind, this all-around frame is perfectly comfortable in any situation. Sharing the mold of the Organix 8, this racquet features the same 100 square inch head size and standard length but a heavier 11.1 ounce strung weight for strong players seeking greater stability and more heft. In addition to the added stability, the racquet features the same comfort technologies as the rest of the Organix line, including the modified DNX technology that now includes another organic material, cellulose for greater flexibility and softness. A unique addition to their racquets is the new Optispot system, developed with information about how the eye works to track and focus on contrasting colors and movement. With this in mind, the frame features contrasting paint at primary positions around the head, inviting players to focus on the center of the string bed for more consistent sweetspot contact. Despite being a stiffer frame by Volkl standards, the Organix 8 315 remains comfortable on the arm thanks to its newly developed Bio Sensor handle system. This updated shock reducing handle uses the concept of a pendulum mass dampener originally developed to dissipate earthquake vibrations in skyscrapers. A weight pin sits in the end of the handle and moves at contact, creating a vibration wave that acts counter to shock associated with contact and when the two waves meet, the strength is greatly reduced for a more comfortable impact. Our testers enjoyed the easy access to spin and controllable power, feeling that it was best suited to a baseline player, but capable at net too.
