WILSON Extreme Octane 17g Tennis String Reel Black

Wilson promises improved power and, perhaps more importantly, improved durability with Wilson Extreme Octane 17 Reel. Octane has some classic synthetic gut attributes, but it differs in its use of bi-directional “X-Bands” of Nomex, a derivative of Kevlar more known for its use in fire-resistant suits for race car drivers. That addition enhances durability, elasticity, and resistance to frictional heat. Also, the higher gauge affords added feel.

Similar to the top-selling Prince Duraflex, Octane has a very solid feel with little shock or vibration. During testing, the string showed remarkable control for a synthetic as well as consistency on contact. Octane’s silicone coating not only makes stringing easy, but it also allows the strings to slide back into their original position – no straightening necessary. The string exhibits an ability to hold tension comparable to other synthetic gut strings.
