Monday, August 27, 2012 Wilson BLX Juice, Pro, and Steam - Which Works for You?

Victoria Azarenka Wilson BLX Juice

Still not sure which Wilson BLX racquet is for you? Learn more about the BLX Juice, Steam, and Pro as we wrap up our Wilson BLX review series.

Juice Series: Wilson has very wisely produced three Juice BLX models to appeal to players everywhere. The top-selling Juice 100 BLX is the choice of WTA star Victoria Azarenka, as well as ATP player Feliciano Lopez. Fitting perfectly in the popular “tweener” segment, the 100 square inch, 10.7 ounce Juice is designed to increase power and spin, and has the addition of Amplifeel handle technology to filter out unwanted vibrations. The Juice 108 BLX puts Juice power and spin within reach of those wanting (or needing) a larger hitting area. The heavier Juice Pro BLX puts the Juice spin machine into a 96 square inch frame with a lower flex and added weight for those who can create their own power.

Pro BLX Series: The Pro series BLX frames are classic “tweeners”, using lighter weight, mid-width beamed frames for added power and higher swing speeds. The Pro Open BLX uses Wilson’s Dual Taper Beam to put extra power into the hands of players wanting to swing a little less weight, while the Pro Lite BLX puts BLX’s benefits into a sub-10 ounce frame for developing juniors. Players wanting a lightweight, oversize BLX Pro frame will be delighted with the new Pro Limited 110 BLX.

Steam BLX Series: While there is only one Steam series racquet right now, there is little doubt this top-seller will spawn new versions. An 11 ounce weight with a slightly wider than normal beam makes for controlled power in the hands of a skilled player. If you were using the BLX Tour, the Steam will add some “steam” to your game.

The Steam BLX is designed to offer more control and feel from baseline and net with its classic flat-beamed design, narrower beam, and softer flex. It also happens to be the choice of 2011 Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova.

If you decide you’d like to try one of these Wilson BLX racquets, check out the Tennis Express Demo Program! Taking a racquet for a test drive is the best way to help you decide which model is best for you.
