The Marriage of Sport and Style: adidas by Stella McCartney
|
When fashion designer Stella McCartney teamed up with adidas, she envisioned a line of athletic clothing that would bring together the worlds of fashion and sport. Her spring 2012 line of tennis apparel does just that, blending style and performance for the fashion-conscious woman who radiates both elegance and athleticism. As McCartney told adidas, “I think it was really important to show real women working out and showing their bodies and just to marry the two worlds, fashion and sport.” This marriage of sport and style for women is something McCartney found lacking in the industry. “I really wanted to change what I saw out there,” she said, “sports clothing for women was such an ill addressed subject.” |

|
But purely fashion wasn’t the goal of McCartney’s line. “It is first and foremost a sports performance line,” McCartney explained “We manage to strike a balance where the design doesn’t compromise the performance aspect.”
Designed for the No. 1 player on the women’s pro tour Caroline Wozniacki, the Stella McCartney Tennis Collection is built with pro-quality performance. “I felt like I have everything any fashionable female tennis player always dreams about,” Caro told adidas, “Cutting-edge adidas technologies combined with Stella's unique designs that actually perform.”
Pieces like the Performance Tennis Dress and the Capsleeve Tennis Tee stand out with feminine intricacies like sheer lace and graceful silhouettes, but they’re also equipped with performance features like ClimaLite fabric with moisture-wicking and lightweight heat defense.

From skirts to jackets, the Stella McCartney line has style-conscious women covered. The Run Performance Mid Layer Jacket adds a layer that’s soft, stretchy, and light. The fit gives its wearer a decidedly feminine look and feel, without being frilly or flamboyant. The line also features accessories like super soft wristbands with a hidden pocket and a 100% organic visor. The Stella McCartney Tennis Bag features a handbag-esque design with plenty of space for athletic gear. The Stella McCartney Juglans Tennis Shoes coordinate with the collection while offering the same performance features you expect from an adidas shoe, like adiPRENE+ and adiTUFF. |
|
Browse the collection and you’re sure to find something that catches your eye. Developed in collaboration
with sports giant adidas, you can rest assured that you won’t have to sacrifice performance for style.
"This collection is for women who take their sport and their style seriously. Why should we have to
compromise one for the other?” –Stella McCartney
