Description

Used by tour pros Juan Monaco and Bernard Tomic, the Yonex V-Core Xi 98 is made for players with plenty of power potential. The Integrated Power Weight System (IPS) places added weight at the 3 and 9 o'clock head positions to give the racquet face a greater moment of inertia, while high-density MicroCore material is placed near the 2 and 10 o'clock head positions to increase spin and stability. Isometric technology provides a 7% larger sweet spot, and a 6-point head light balance makes it nice and maneuverable. A weight of 11.3 ounces and narrow beams make this racquet perfect for players looking to add some control to their game.

Note: This racquet comes with a cover

Great racket
4/5
I bought this racket without demoing. Was currently playing the ezone 100. This racket plays a little stiffer but still really easy on the arm. Im extremely pleased with my choice. Already picked up a second one. The grip feels like its a size large so I removed it and used two over grips which got it closer to size for me. I have added a little lead tape in hoop at 10 and 2 but thats just personal preference. You wont be disappointed in this racket!

Great new product from yonex
4/5
As I said in previous review the grip comes a little larger than my older models but I took grip off and stretched two over grips to get right fit. Also I added lead tape at 10 and 2 for a little weight where I want it. Other than that these rackets are really nice. They are a little stiffer and have a nice narrow beam. I switched from ezone 100 so I appreciate the narrow beam. Nice graphics. Strung with luxilon fluoros Im finding some of my old game back. Arm problems are in the past too. I can comfortably play for hours with this racket or as long as my legs can take it you wont be disappointed in this racket! Im thinking about a third!!

Bigger grip than it says...
3/5
I received the vcore xi 98 racquet right on time and the stringing was great. The only thing that was a problem is that the grip size is almost a full size larger than it says. I went back in and saw other reviews that said the same thing, but I already have the racquet. Grip size is very important to how the racquet plays and this is a disappointment. Because of this I gave lower ratings in the 3 categories...

VCORE 98
2.33333333333/5
I have had a difficult time trying to control my shots with this racquet. The frame is stiffer than others I have used and while there is a lot of power my shots are not consistent. Ground strokes and serves are too long for a player who has a long racquet path. I strung the racquet at 65 with a hybrid max and am not consistent with my strokes. I demoed this frame for a week and thought a better string combination than that used would provide the control I was seeking. A nice racquet for a player with a medium swing path desiring more power. I will look for a more flexible frame. A nice looking frame that is good on volleys and defensive shots but my game is not suited to this racquet.

A Real Gem
5/5
This frame has a HUGE sweet spot! The comfort level is supreme due the large sweet spot and the cushioned feel of the frame. Power and control are there to be had depending on the string tension, but the feel of the frame is truly determined by the huge sweet spot and and cushioned feedback on shots. Highly recommended for players looking for a mid-weight, stable, and comfortable racquet. If you have have arm issues, I would look no further.

Good but nothing spectacular
4.66666666667/5
I played with the VCore Xi 100 for two years and switched to the VCore Xi 98 because I wanted a more solid feel on volleys and ground strokes. With the VCore 98 I got just that, a lot of extra weight but nothing more. The racquet does everything good but nothing spectacular. The Xi 100 was really easy to maneuver around the court and most importantly, very easy on the arm. The Xi 98 is a lot stiffer and is not arm friendly. I have been playing with it for about a month now and I have to discontinue use because my tennis elbow started acting up. My stringer suggested that I soften the frame with soft strings, so I use natural gut and a soft poly and it still gives me pain. Also, it seems like you need to put a lot of work into delivering a shot, especially on the serve. I am now testdriving the Ai Ivanovics racquetand will most likely switch.

Love Vcore Xi 98
5/5
I bought this racquet 2 weeks ago from Tennis Express. I received my racquet on time and it came with a free bag. It took me a few days to adjust with my first Yonex racquet. Now I get used to it and love it a lot. I use it every time on a court. I am no longer using my Babolat pure-drive GT anymore. My experience with Tennis Express is always positive. Friendly, courtesy and experienced staffs are always there to address my needs and expedite my orders. Price is almost always cheaper than other online stores.
