Flavia Pennetta will be wielding the new Wilson Steam 99 on the WTA Tour in 2013, and will no doubt love the balance of power, control and feel it offers. Beams are increased from the original Steam 100, with a 24mm Dual Taper Beam providing added power and stability, along with a more open 16x18 string pattern for additional power and spin. A sturdy 11.3oz. weight allows you to defend your opponent’s hardest-hit shots. Basalt construction combines with Double Hole grommets and Wilson’s new Amplifeel 360 handle to make the Steam 99 a very comfortable and stable frame for the modern aggressive baseline player. This racquet does not come with a cover.

Great Racquet...!

This is an excellent racquet for a serious 2+ times/week player. Comfortable, light but stable, and a great sweet spot. Couldnt have made a better choice. Thanks, Tennis Express, for the fitting and recommendation.

Good for aggressive 4.0+ play
4.66666666667/5
I chose the Wilson Steam 99 over the 99S model, simply because I generate enough topspin on my own, and wanted a more stable frame. Ive found it to be an excellent choice for me to generate plenty of pace on ground strokes, while being maneuverable enough for me to put away crisp volleys at the net. Its 16 x 18 string pattern is open enough to generate plenty of spin, while stable enough to keep my shots consistent. Its a bit heavier than some of the team frame models out there, so its able to provide plenty of pop on baseline ground strokes. Its designed for those of us that have quick swing speeds, and consistently provides great feel all around the court. I typically play aggressive tennis in the 4.0 - 4.5 range, and heartily recommend this racquet for serious competitors, whether your specialty is singles, or doubles.

Steam 99 tennis racquet

I am satisfied with the use of the racquet, it took me 2 weeks to get used to it. With the tension of 58 I can now do the regular swing and produces lots of spin without much power on my part. I highly recommend this racquet for use of any level player.

I looked at a number of rackets before selecting the Wilson Steam. Heavy, but not too heavy with outstanding feel to the racket.

Just what I was looking for.

I have been searching high and low for a great tennis racquet for the upcoming season at my school and for USTA. I use to use a prince racquet which helped me take over 1st place and lead my team to regions. I finally decided to go try and find a even better racquet because I needed more control spin which this Wilson Steam 99 gave it to me. Thank you TennisExpress!
