A longtime favorite, the newly enhanced Wilson BLX Surge is designed to deliver a blend of control and power to players seeking a lightweight tweener frame. Similar in construction to the BLX Pro Open, the BLX Surge comes in almost a full ounce lighter to closely focus on manueverability and an attacking style of play. The new BLX technology integrates Basalt fibers into the graphite matrix to dampen shock and unwanted vibrations to give enhanced feel at contact. The open string pattern and variable beam construction make this a popular frame among intermediate players with medium swing speeds looking for all around playability. The Basalt engineered matrix helps to dissipate shock, ensuring a pure feel at contact for greater touch around the court.

Love this racquet!
5/5
I love this racquet. Its a great product, especially for the price. The BLX technology really does filter out any vibration. The grip feels awesome, the paint job is cool, and the control I get is fantastic.

Great lightweight racket

This is a great racket. The light weight helps generate a lot of spin, and can save your arm in long matches, especially for the one-handed backhanders. Power is there, also.

Great Racquet
4.66666666667/5
I purchased this racquet based on advice from Tennis Express sales staff. I could not demo the racquet since I'm a military service member assigned to a remote site in Egypt which has tennis courts. The Tennis Express staff was extremely helpful and patient - even working problems with shipping to Egypt. The racquet is a good mix of power and control. As a 3.0-3.5 player whos improving, my ground strokes are more contained and volleys are crisper. The racquet is a tad lighter than I actually wanted. It does have good vibration control without eliminating all its sense of touch. Ill probably play with this for the next 9-12 months then demo a slightly heavier Wilson BLX frame. For now, its a great purchase - particularly for anyone looking for a balance between power and control in a lighter frame. Great buy for $129.

Wilson Surge
4.66666666667/5
This is the first racquet that I have purchased. I was used to playing with hand-me-downs and extra racquets owned by friends. My last and full time racquet was an old Wilson Sting which I was quite used to but found it to be a bit heavy for me and the grip size was too large. Having been playing more seriously now for about two years I decided to buy a new one and after doing a bit of research, decided on the Surge. I have used it now for a month and have found it to be light, quick and controllable. Since it is lighter than my old Sting, I must concentrate a little more on my form and apply a little more strength to my volleys and serves. Due to its light weight I find that I am able to do more with the ball than I have before. I like that racquet, I have no desire to go back to the Sting, and have no regrets of buying. Plus the excellent service given to me by Tennis Express made it lot less stressful. I would recommend this to anyone.

Great racquet for one handed back hand
5/5
My one handed back hand used to be the weakest until I found this racquet. Now I have great control, power and variety on my back hand shots. It also gives me more power on my serve.

Racket has Grommet protruding up
1.33333333333/5
Hello, I realized that this particular BLX Surge had both its last Grommets peaked up from its slot. Not sure if this was because of the Natural Gut string which I got put on. But all in all was not happy that it pokes when the neck of racket is held in both hands.
