Alpha Gut 2000 18 has been around for nearly 20 years for a reason: it provides the ultimate in feel without breaking the bank. A unique string by many standards, this one combines the softness of a multifilament central core with the increased durability and abrasion resistance of outerwrap construction. The result is an extremely soft feel with impressive durability and power. The outer coating of the string is treated with a pearlized, abrasion resistant resin in order to slow the fraying process typical of multifilament strings. Over the years, Alpha has stuck with a winner in Gut 2000 as an inexpensive alternative to traditional multifilament strings with one of the softest offerings on the market. Our testers enjoyed the cushioned feel of the string but noticed that it provides only moderate power.

Composition: Multifilament w/ High Tech Pseudo-Core

Color: White

Gauge: 18G/1.23mm

Length: 40 ft

Great Sting

Very affordable string. Used as a full bed of string. Felt great but only lasted for 3-4 hard hitting matches. It does very well as an affordable hybrid cross string.

Soft Strings
4/5
These strings are soft and predictable. Strung at 48lbs in a BLX Pro Open. I like the feel of the string although its not as crisp as Gamma Professional. It proved to have a little too much power at this tension. I will restring at a higher tension and try it again. This is a really good string for crosses in a hybrid setup.

Oldie but goodie
4/5
This have used the Alpha Gut 2000 for many years and really like the playability of the 18g. Great feel and touch, good power and the 18g allows for more spin and control. I think for the money this is one of the best string on the market. The only draw back is the 18g will break easier if you hit a lot of top spin...so you may want to try the 17g or 16g.

18 g Multi. Look no further
5/5
I have been around the block looking for a Multi string for my Youtek Radical MP. Prince LT, PPA, Tech. Biphase, Tech. Multifeel, Dishco Acura, Discho Microfibre, Ashaway Blue 18, and while I did not dislike any of these, I couldnt commit to any one of them as my go to string. My search is over. Alpha gut 18g gives me the feel, pop, spin, and comfort I have been looking for, at almost a third of the price. I play 4.5 singles mostly from the baseline and get about 12 to 15 hours strung up at 58 lbs. Worth a try for those playing with a tight pattern and looking to get away from poly!

Good in Power Angles Rackets
5/5
I am using this string in Power Angle rackets. Very easy to strong and the customers like it better than anything else I have put in this racket. The result is very easy on the arm and shoulder and has lots of feel. Have two customers who play 2 or 3 times a week and find the string last well all year.

Alpha Gut 2000 18 g
4/5
Soft on arm, excellent pop. I hit a flatter ball then most the strings are lasting. Play at least 20 hrs still playing and holding tension without breaking. I play w/BABOLAT New Pure Drive

Alpha Gut 2000 18G
4/5
My stringing range is from 50 to 60lbs. I string my racquet at 52lbs. With this string I get a pocketing feel when I hit out and good top spin. Lobs are easy, but little topspin lob generated. Volleys are solid and also provide a pocketing and slice feel. Slice is possible with the serve.

Alpha Gut 2000 18G String
4/5
A good pocketing feel when you hit out on the ground strokes. Angle shots are easy. Its difficult to get a top spin lob with kick. Power generation is also good. Its a good multifilament string that provides softness when strung at 58lbs.
