Joao Pedro Coelho Marinho de Sousa, also nicknamed Conquistador, began playing tennis at the age of 6 with his father, Armando. After winning national youth titles, he decided to take tennis seriously and moved to Barcelona at 15 years of age to focus on becoming a pro. In 2008 he decided to turn pro and captured his first singles ATP Challenger title in 2011 then rose to prominence on the ATP world tour in 2013 at the Malaysian Open. He has always admired Juan Carlos Ferrero, Pete Sampras and Roger Federer growing up. He speaks 6 different languages and hobbies include playing/watching football, reading books, going to the movies or hanging out with friends.
