Description
Alpha Gut 2000 17 has been around for nearly 20 years for a reason: it provides the ultimate in feel without breaking the bank. A unique string by many standards, this one combines the softness of a multifilament central core with the increased durability and abrasion resistance of outerwrap construction. The result is an extremely soft feel with impressive durability and power. The outer coating of the string is treated with a pearlized, abrasion resistant resin in order to slow the fraying process typical of multifilament strings. Over the years, Alpha has stuck with a winner in Gut 2000 as an inexpensive alternative to traditional multifilament strings with one of the softest offerings on the market. Our testers enjoyed the cushioned feel of the string but noticed that it provides only moderate power.

Real gut-like performance. Handles the ball well and gives you the ability to place the ball well. Stands up to heavy hitting and gives great control. Very little drop in tension after several matches.

Very affordable string with NXT like performance. Wilson keeps raising the price of NXT and I break a lot of string. I bought several sets of multi-filament strings in hopes of finding a cheaper version of NXT. Most were okay but not really that much better priced. Alpha Gut 2000 was a pleasant surprise. Almost an afterthought in my string order because of its amazingly low price, I wasnt expecting much. This string feels and plays great. The price makes this a no-brainer for me. I will always keep a set or two in stock.

I used this string as main with Gosen micro 17 as cross in my Volkl Power Bridge 10 Mid and I like it a lot. It provides good pops and nice control and enough spin for kick serve and drop shots. Although it broke after playing 5 hour on clay, the low cost allows me to restring often, which will be fresh string in the next play! If you dont mind stringing often, it is strongly recommended!
