Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova is a professional Russian tennis player that started playing at the age of six. Athletic genes run in her family as her grandmother played basketball for the USSR, her father was an Olympic canoeist, her mother was a swimmer, and her brother was a tennis professional. As a junior prodigy, Pavlyuchenkova won two Junior Grand Slam (US Open and Australian Open) titles, and became the junior World No. 1 in January 2006 at the age of 14. In juniors she accumulated an overall win-loss of record of 131–23 in singles and 87–22 in doubles. This success transferred into the WTA tour winning her first ITF Singles event in 2006 received a wild card into the Kremlin Cup the same year. In 2009 she reached her first Indian Wells Semifinal and cracked into the top 30 WTA rankings. 2010-2011 she continued to rise claiming two WTA Singles titles and reaching two Grand Slam Women's Singles Quarterfinals at the French Open and US Open. She has reached five Grand Slam Quarterfinals in singles and doubles so far in her career along with capturing 12 WTA Singles titles and 5 WTA Doubles titles. Her favorite surface is clay, where she loves to hit down-the-line forehands. She speaks Russian, English, and French, and enjoys Japanese food. Her favorite hobbies are karaoke, shopping, dancing, snorkeling, seeing friends, music, and sleeping.
