Garbiñe Muguruza was born on October 8th, 1993 in Caracas, Venezuela. She began playing tennis at age three and by the time she was a teen had moved to her father’s native country, Spain, to train in Barcelona. She joined the pro circuit at age 18 and experienced instant fame 3 years later when she beat world no. 1 Serena Williams in the French Open 2nd round. She won her first Grand Slam Singles title at the 2016 French Open against her favorite female tennis player, Serena. To follow it up, in 2017 she won her second Grand Slam Singles title at Wimbledon against Venus Williams. She has an aggressive style of play and loves serving on hard courts. In her spare time she enjoys cooking, reading and listening to music.
