Demoing a new racquet with Tennis Express is so easy. You may demo up to three racquets online for a small fee of $24.99 which includes shipping the demos to you and a pre-paid FEDEX return label to ship the demos back to Tennis Express (Note: All demo racquets in your order will be shipped together. If one of your demo racquets is not in stock, all other racquets in your order will wait to ship out until the final racquet arrives in our store). How to Choose Head Demo Racquets

The right racquet depends on your level, how you swing and what you want more of: power, control or comfort. Use this guide to narrow it down before you buy.

Start with head size

Bigger heads (100 sq in and up) give more power and a larger sweet spot, which helps newer and developing players. Smaller heads (95 to 98 sq in) give more control and precision for players with full, consistent swings.

Pick the right weight and balance

Lighter racquets are easier to swing and maneuver. Heavier racquets feel more stable and absorb more shock on off-center hits. Head-light frames are quick at the net; head-heavy frames add power to slower swings.

Mind the string pattern and tension

An open pattern like 16x19 gives more spin and power; a dense pattern like 18x20 gives more control. Lower tension adds power and comfort, higher tension adds control. Stay within the recommended range listed in each racquet's specs.

Select the appropriate grip size

Most adults land between 4 1/4 and 4 5/8 inches. Quick test: grip the racquet normally and slide your opposite index finger between your fingertips and palm — it should fit snugly. If it doesn't fit or falls through, adjust accordingly. Note: Demos typically have reduced grip size options: size down when uncertain - you can always add an overgrip to build it up

How Does the Demo Program Work?

Find the perfect racquet for your game with the Tennis Express Demo Program. Browse our huge selection of tennis racquets and choose up to three to demo online for just $24.99. This fee includes shipping both ways with a pre-paid FedEx return label.

All demo racquets in your order will ship together once they’re in stock. Each is strung with the manufacturer’s recommended string. To get started, simply select 1–3 demo racquets, add them to your cart, and check out. Orders ship via FedEx Ground, typically arriving in 2–5 business days. You'll have one week from delivery to test them out before returning.

Customers can only have one set of demos out at a time and the next order won't be shipped until the first order is on the way back.

Shipping Terms and Restrictions

We do not ship demo racquets to Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, APO, PO Boxes, or US Territories. To ensure everyone has a chance to try demos, please review our Program Details and Terms of Use. Late returns incur a $2.00 per racquet, per day fee. If racquets are not returned within 7 days of your due date, your credit card will be charged the full retail price. Removing the barcode label on the demo will incur a $10 fee for the replacement label.

How Do I Ship Them Back?

Return your demos by placing them in the original box, attaching the enclosed return label, and dropping them off at any manned FedEx location. Do not use unmanned drop boxes or other carriers. There are no additional fees if returned on time. For assistance, call our Customer Service at (713) 435-4800.

Demo Discount

When you demo with us, you’ll get a $25 coupon toward a new racquet purchase (select models over $149). Your coupon will be emailed to you after you complete your demo.

Can I Demo In-Store?

Local Houston customers can also visit our store to demo up to three racquets for $24.99. This fee includes trying the racquets for up to a week. For more details, check our in-store demo policy.
