The HEAD Youtek IG Extreme MP 2.0 is the predecessor to the Youtek Graphene Extreme MP. This budget friendly racquet features HEAD’s Innegra Technology, which helps to reduce racquet vibrations by up to 17% on ball impact for improved control. The racquet also features S-tech Grommets which allow for greater string movement that results in a larger sweet spot.

Groundstrokes
The MP was my favorite part of the Extreme 2.0 line. The racquet combined great feel and control, along with a good amount of power. The racquet’s weight was balanced and the frame weighed 11.2 ounces strung. This gave the racquet its solid feel, which I enjoyed. Similar to the other Extreme 2.0 racquets, the feel was slightly dampened.

I was able to take big swings with the MP, driving through the ball nicely. I could place the ball consistently, even while taking big swings. I felt the maneuverability could have been better, but was as expected for a balanced frame with a little extra weight. I was very happy with the Extreme MP, and it fit my aggressive style well.

Volleys
This racquet provided an interesting combination of feel and power at the net. I felt confident placing my shots wherever I wanted, hitting volleys for depth as well as short angles. The racquet felt solid even when striking the ball off center, probably due to the weight and balance of the frame. On balls that sat up, I had no problem sticking the volleys with extra pace.

Serves
The MP drove through the ball well on serves. It felt solid, and I was able to place the ball wherever I wanted, consistently. The racquet provided enough power and spin to my liking, but I was not overly impressed by either aspect on my serve. That said, I did feel an increase in consistency on both my first and second serve.

Overall
I really enjoyed hitting with the Extreme 2.0 MP. I especially liked the soft feel (this frame is definitely arm friendly), combined with the plow through of a heavier model. I was able to control the ball incredibly well, but still had the ability to be aggressive. The racquet performed well from all parts of the court. I would recommend it to a player who wants a controllable player’s racquet with a softer feel to it.
