Roland Garros 2013: Serena's Style

Roland Garros 2013: Serena's Style

It was just over a year ago that number 1 ranked Serena Williams experienced the unimaginable: losing the first round of the French Open to Virginia Razanno, ranked 111th at the time. This month Williams returns to Roland Garros and you can rest assured that she’ll be doing everything in her power to avoid a repeat. Despite the fire in those eyes, Williams will be sporting a more subdued color scheme this year, opting for shades of blues and grey with the occasional pop of an orange hue as bold as her personality.

For singles play, Serena will be wearing the Wrap Knit Tennis Dress by Nike in Squadron Blue with a solid ball short in bright citrus. This dress is designed for commanding the court. The wrap over styling flatters your figure while moving like a second skin and incorporates Dri-FIT technology that wicks sweat to the fabric surface where it can evaporate. Thick elastic shoulder straps and band at the waistline keep the dress from shifting during play. A built-in bra provides needed support - and modesty! The Nike French Terry Pant in Grey Heather will give Serena extra coverage on those cool mornings before she’s warmed up.

For doubles, Serena will sport a 2 piece ensemble from the same line, changing it up just a bit with the addition of some Light Blue. The Nike Novelty Tank is made of an innovative sweat-wicking knit that provides optimal moisture management. Racerback straps won’t get in the way of play. She’ll pair the tank with the Nike Pleated Women’s Tennis Skirt in Light Blue which has curved seams to allow for added movement and top off the look with the breathable Nike Featherlight Tennis Cap in Squadron Blue.

The Nike Women’s Air Max Cage will be supporting Serena’s fast paced footwork, also in Light Blue. The heel is constructed with Max Air technology for Nike’s highest level of impact protection, as well as Drag On Technology to increase durability in high-wear areas. It also features Air Max Breathe technology to free feet from sweat accumulation.
