John Millman was born in Brisbane Australia on June 14, 1989, and was the second youngest in a family of five, and grew up the only boy among his siblings. For school, he attended Brisbane Grammar School and then went to Anglican Church Grammar School. He found his love for tennis and also enjoys playing soccer and supports the Liverpool Football Club. In January 2019, he received the OLY post-nominal title at Brisbane International Tournament. In 2008, John began to pursue professional tennis and won the F8 Futures in Australia then was runner up in an F1 in Romania. After that, he made the semis in a Morocco F5 tournament. As his success on the junior circuit continued, he made the finals of an F2 in Bulgaria and had three semi-final appearances. During the year of 2012 he gained a protected ranking that allowed him to join the Brisbane International qualifying tournament where he won three matches and qualified for the main draw. He then went on to compete in the Australian Open and lost to Vasek Pospisil. As he continued playing in 2012 and won his first title in Bendigo where he defeated Ben Mitchel.
