Julia Goerges began playing tennis at age six. Georges was inspired by Martina Hingis to play tennis and says her career goal is "to get better and better, step by step." She turned professional in 2005, and first broke into the world's top 100 in 2008. She was able to claim her first career WTA Singles title in 2010 at the Gastein Ladies Open. In the middle of her career she struggled with injuries and lack of confidence. However, she never let that stop her and in the 2017 season turned things around. She captured two WTA Singles titles at Moscow and Zhuhai, while reaching three WTA Singles finals at Mallorca, Bucharest, and Washington, DC. 2018 she kept up her high performance reaching the Women's Singles Semifinals at Wimbledon. Her favorite surface is hard court and her favorite tournament is the Australian Open. Her favorite actor is Hugh Grant, and her favorite singer is Michael Jackson. She loves to watch daily soap operas on German TV.
