Monica was born in Slatina, Romania, but moved to Bucharest when she was four years of age. As a junior, she had a remarkable gift to win easily in every final she reached. Before turning 18, she won 11 ITF Women's Singles Finals, losing only one set. In 2010 Monica reached her first WTA Singles Semifinal in Tashkent and ended the year in the top-100 rankings. In 2013 she captured her first WTA Singles title in Florianópolis and steadily finished in the top-50 rankings the following years. Her true calling on tour came on the doubles side winning 9 WTA Doubles titles and reaching 17 WTA Doubles Finals. Monica enjoys music, shopping, movies and fashion. Her favorite cities are Bucharest and New York. Her favorite player is Agassi and admires Federer and Nadal.
