Alex started playing tennis at the age of 3 and he came from an athletic family. His mother and father played college tennis and he gives his mom credit for playing tennis with him every day. Michelsen turned pro in 2023 and has already broken into the top fifty of the ATP rankings in a short time. Michelson uses his tall stature to lean on his opponents with reliable and powerful groundstrokes, and a booming serve. At 6'4, he defends the court incredibly well and he had his biggest win to date at the 2025 Australian Open where he defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas.
