Feliciano Lopez Diaz-Guerra began playing tennis at age five with father, Feliciano, who is a tennis coach. His mother, Belen Diaz-Guerra, is a nurse. He has a younger brother named Victor who also played tennis. In 2005, he was the first male Spanish tennis player to reach the Quarterfinals at Wimbledon since 1972 and repeated the feat in 2008 as well as 2011. He's also reached the Quarterfinals of the 2015 US Open, and won his first Grand Slam Doubles title at the 2016 French Open with coach and partner Marc López. He is known for his strong serve and ability to play balls repeatedly on the baseline. He is also a confident net player and has been known to serve and volley. Lopez is a big fan of Real Madrid FC and when at home he enjoys going out with friends to movies and to discos. On his 38th birthday in Spain he married long-time girlfriend Sandra Gago.
