Gilles Simon – nicknamed “Giloul” - began playing tennis at age six. As a junior, he was inspired by Michael Chang and says of Chang, "He showed me that you don't have to be tall in order to be a great player.” In 2009 Simon reached his first Grand Slam QF at the Australian Open and also advanced to a personal-best third round at Roland Garros. His favorite French player of all-time is Cedric Pioline, favorite surface is clay and he believes his backhand is his best shot. Simon’s hobbies include video gaming, rollerblading and watching movies.His best Grand Slam efforts came with reaching the Quarter finals in 2009 at the Australian Open and in 2015 at Wimbledon.
