Maria Sharapova is Back!

Maria Sharapova is Back!

After a 15-month suspension, Maria Sharapova will return to the professional tennis scene as a wild card in the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix, in Stuttgart, Germany.

Taking a look back, Maria claimed the Stuttgart championship title in 2012, 2013, and 2014.

Wednesday morning, Sharapova will begin her highly anticipated comeback as she faces Roberta Vinci (36) in the first round and, given she advances, could face Agnieszka Rodwanska (8) in the second round.

Upon her big return Sharapova will still represent team Nike in the Maria Women’s Premier Tennis Jacket, the Maria Women’s Flex Tank Premier paired with the Maria Premier Tennis Skort.

Come semi-finals, Sharapova could face a challenging match with Angelique Kerber (2), who advanced to the finals of the Monterrey Open in early April.

This is all in hopes that a great performance in Stuttgart will earn her a wild card at Roland-Garros.

It’s very apparent Maria has not slowed down since her suspension. Along with her rigorous and consistent training on and off the court, she has also taken her premium chocolate and candy company, Sugarpova, to new heights. She recently announced that the Sugarpova Premium Chocolate collection will be available in select Kroger and 7-eleven stores throughout the U.S.

This just goes to verify the accuracy of Suzy Toronto’s book, Behind every successful woman is a substantial amount of chocolate. I was hoping that was true. That being said, I feel a little less guilty about the amount of chocolate I consumed over Easter weekend. Thanks Maria and Suzy!

Hold on . . . that’s not all. Maria has also been working on her memoir: Unstoppable: My Life So Far for the past 2 years. Within the pages she opens up and shares her journey with the world. Not as easy as one may assume.

The memoir is currently available for pre-order, and come September, will be available for purchase.

Overall, we know people are skeptical about the former world #1’s return. She has a long road ahead and has some respect to earn back amongst both her fellow professional tennis players and fans.

It’s hard to say what will happen over the next couple of days as Maria makes her initial comeback. However, two things have been, and still are, very clear: Maria is a fighter and she is extremely dedicated to tennis.

The Porsche Tennis Grand Prix final match will be held on April 30th.
