The Yonex ASTREL 120 3rd Gen Tennis Racquet is built for recreational players who place an emphasis on a lightweight frame for the utmost control and power. The ASTREL 120 is more flexible and comfortable than a typical game improvement racquet. Yonex incorporates three different dampening agents: Vibslayer Carbon, Shock-less Grommets, and Vibration Dampening Mesh. VDM is a stretchy mesh material wrapped around the graphite inside the handle to filter out unwanted vibrations. In this version, Yonex added VDM in the racquet shaft for added comfort. The grommets in the upper portion of the hoop have an oval shape while the side grommets are enlarged to create more pocketing, string movement, and power.

The 120 square inch Isometric head shape enlarges the sweet spot of the ASTREL 120, while the open 16x17 string pattern makes it easy to create spin. While the beam is tapered slightly thicker (27/28.5/25mm) the 9.0-ounce unstrung weight keeps the ASTREL incredibly mobile. This version has been reinforced in the lower shaft to reduce torque and improve consistency over the previous version. This racquet has one of the largest head sizes on the market, and it makes the racquet play with a wonderfully forgiving feel.
